I'm two+ months into Documentary School concentrating on photography. I'm having a blast and have seen a huge improvement in my photography. I'll slowly post my work when I get the time (time is so scarce here). I've posted my very first images, and I'm not in love with them but comparing them to my latest work is mind blowing.
I'm spending all my time in the field working on four stories all over the state and meeting fabulous people. My stories are:
1. Bunker - a man with his 50 year old parrot Singapore
2. Maria - an immigrant from Brazil working at a potato factory
3. Cold River Vodka - The only potato distillery in the country
So I came down to New Orleans and put together a photo exhibit of the Katrina disaster from the point of view of residents injust three weeks!! I am exhausted. Life in the Wake of Katrina opened Saturday, July 29th, and begins its national tour with a two week instalment at the Galveston Arts Center in Texas!! So it's starting off with a bang! I can't believe it. The people I have met here have become like family and the feedback they have given me about the exhibit has been uplifting. They have told me that they now feel as though they haven't been forgotten any more and that this has made them feel more like a community. This is what
